The Producers

CCP is a small dinner theater seating roughly 250 guests for each preformance.

I wokred as an Assistant Costume Designer for their production of The Producers.
​
Most of our items were pulled from stock and then modified to fit the needs of the show.
This dress started out as two identical dresses. The idea was to have the dress 'grow' durring the dance of this scene.
​
The skirt of the first dress was cut off and reattached to the waist of the second dress with snaps. The skirt was hemmed again and a second set of snaps were added to the back to allow it to stay pulled back in drapes.
​
When the dance started the first set of snaps in the back would be pulled open allowing the dress to become longer. Then at the end of the song the second set would be pulled and the under longer skirt would be tossed behind a set piece.
How do you get 30 jail costumes that don't look cheesey?

You contact the county jail and ask to borrow some.
The county jail was able to lend us 30 prisoner uniforms for our show.
