Bow is Drafted
The bow is drafted in Vectorworks to scale so a print out can be made for future use. The final bow size is set to be three feet long to best fit the user's proportions.
Materials Are Cut
The patern is cut out of EVA foam and corrugated plastic depending on if the section need to light up in the final piece.
Pieces are glued together into small panels.
Internal Structure
A PVC Pipe is heated and bent to form to the inside structure of the bow to provide stability. Scrap steel is used to hold the pipe in place as it cools.
Wiring
The wires were soldered together into two circuts. The top circut includes 21 blue LEDs and the lower circut contains 7 blue LEDs. Each circut runs on two AA batteries resulting in the heavier circut, the top, having an estimated life span of 12 hours continueous use.
Foam Clay Details
Foam Clay is added in areas to allow more details to be added and to smooth out round areas of foam.
Painting
The corrugated plastic is taped off and a spray primer covers the foam sections. The foam is then painted with seven shades of tan to match the ingame look of the bow. The foam is then sealed with a spray sealent. The bow is completed.
